Renewal for the fleet is up next week.
I'm currently with Aviva who want 25% more than last year (not excessive considering I've changed a 1k 3 series for a 16k version).

However, I tried Admiral and they're massively cheaper than last year - they wanted 750 for the Nissan alone whereas this year they want 750 for all 4
I'm assuming they had a lot of leavers and have 'sharpened their pencils' to recover the business.

I also tried Direct Line as they highlight their multi-car discounts.
They're having a laugh though - you have to go ahead and take out a policy with them before they tell you how much you'll save by adding additional cars.
Doing 4 individual quotes gets me to 850 but who knows how much the discount will be, I don't want to take a chance at something like that and whoever thought it was a good way to set the system up must be daft.

So, time to call Aviva and see how close they can get to Admiral.

750 for 4 cars sounds really good. Is there a catch?

Tue new Volvo has added 240 quid on the policy up to November. It was only just over 300 quid for the year on the V50.

I think the biggest catch is that its with Admiral.

The excess has an impact on the price but the current policy with Aviva has the 3 performance cars with an 850 compulsory excess whereas the quote from Admiral was 500 (250 compulsory and 250 voluntary).

I've just renewed my cars with Aviva on a multicar policy and my excess is 650 on each car.  Their renewal quote was about 15% more than it was the previous year but after taking the mileage down on the GT4 (from 7000 to 5000, I have only done 3100 in it) and asking them nicely for a further discount, I am paying virtually the same as last year.

I know, it's pretty poor.  But in my defence I was spending 5 nights away from home for nearly 8 months of last year, and the damn thing doesn't go in my garage.

It stays for the time being

I asked if they could do anything and after a minute on hold got told they could offer a 4% discount

I at least expected them to go through the quote and see if there were any bits they could tidy up.

Well 4% is better than nothing, certainly more than covers the cost of the phone call.  I still find them to be very competitive and my experience of their claims handling has been trouble free.
