Good news from a Renault dealer

Been a few tales of bad service/rip-offs from dealers on here just lately - so nice to report a different story.

One of the rear windows on my Dad's Scenic failed. It was traced to a faulty regulator. The car is 5 years old, so out of warranty, but Renault described it as a 'known' fault so were prepared to make a 'substantial' contribution. Even so he decided not to have it done as he hardly ever used the window.

Now the car is to be sold, I had to get it done after all, so called the dealer he originally took it to, to see if they still had a record of the diagnosis. Yes - the deal was that Renault would pay for the regulator, but I'd have to pay for a replacement loom and the labour for replacement - around £250.

Car duly booked in for this morning - called a couple of hours later to collect it, and as I got my card out to pay for it was told there was no charge at all - they told me Renault had a change of heart regarding this problem. It didn't need a new regulator after all, the problem was just the loom but they said the whole thing would have been free even if the regulator had been required.

Nice one Renault!

(by the way if anyone wants a very clean 40,000 mile 54 plate 1.5 diesel Scenic for £4500, let me know)

Oh God no thanks, wouldn't touch one of those!!

Good news anyway, there are good and bad everywhere no matter the manufacturer, I like to think we are one of the better ones too.

Not today thanks but good service you got there, very impressive. Good luck selling it, Scenic's are pretty popular so don't accept the first offer if they take the piss!

Talking of Renaults I saw a dealer liveried new Megane estate heading north on the A3 around 8 this morning. Wasn't you was it Humph?

I went to have a look at a Megane estate today. I had to go to Salisbury as my local dealer's only one is in the care of someone who's off on maternity leave and you can only see it by making an appointment!

Anyhow, I didn't like it much. Mostly the seats which had no support and felt like they were made out of sponge. That and the fact that they wanted 19 grand for a 1.4 petrol one!

That's a bit steep. I thought it looked quite good from the outside though as a overtook it.

Only looking, which is the reason I didn't want an appointment to see the more local one. Salisbury is quite a good town in which to go car shopping as nearly all the dealers are in one place. You just park up and go for a wander.

Might have been me, I have a Megane ST in grey and I would've been on the A3 around 8:00 ish going north between Burpham and Cobham, I have stickers on the car but only subtle ones on the front doors under the door mirrors and one on the back window.

That was the one. If I'd known it was you I'd have waved! I'm usually going that way earlier than 8 as I often have to be places for 9, but I didn't need to get to Stevenage until 10am. Looked a decent car, shame I wont be in the market for one for another 2 years yet!
