Now I'm not one for frothing at the mouth about elections, but this one has me ready to party..... if Vatanen wins. Basically it's because of this:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/...s-show-support-for-Jean-Todt.html

I have nothing against Todt and having been involved in many forms of motorsport he'd probably make a good job of it if he ignored some of his "advisors", but I'd love to see the smile wiped off the face of Moseley and spread across the arse of Ari Vatanen's pet stoat.

In normal life I expect revelations such as these would certainly convince many to vote in favour of Vatanen but the FIA has proven itself time and again to be far from normal.

If Toad gets in I can see the American AAA, in particular, being marginalised (remember their outspoken comments after Mosley's vote of confidence) and it causing a big enough rift to actually split the FIA.
The FIA have shown themselves to be uncaring about the US market in general and are bound to look down their nose at its various home-grown racing types and consider it to be no great loss anyway.

Of course, maybe Toad will surprise us and when he gets in (sadly I feel it's inevitable) and turn out to be a radical free-thinker who has been keeping his light under a bushel and who will do pretty much all the right things - a sort of motorsport version of Mikhail Gorbachev in the late 80s.

I'm ready to be disappointed though.

FIA Director General, Region 1, Peter Doggwiler.

Made me smile

This, if true, is bizarre.  And the last sentence suggests that Moseley really did miss his calling by sixty-odd years.  An utterly reprehensible man, and good riddance.

Robert Mugabe learnt all he knows about rigging elections from Moseley, obviously.

It appears that this election needs a UN monitoring party in place.

Actually that's not really a good example of a clean, smear free result.

I'll volunteer to help out for a share of the proceeds from whoever gets fined next.

The FIA has always had little credibility in my eyes, but it's gone well beyond a joke.

It's tragic really.

This is going to be a total mess as I expect Vatanen will go to court if/when Toad gets elected.

It seems everyone at the FIA has forgotten what they're supposed to be there for.

What does the FIA Fuhrer get paid?

Alas we're talking about individuals for whom "pay" is not important. It's influence and dick-waving (literally in the case of Moseley) that really matter.

I t appears Vatanen may have the sport's interests at heart and looks to be in the firing line for someone's power-induced jizz-frenzy

He did a nice job on Friday when he got interviewed on BBC News 24.

He manages to come across as a thoroughly decent chap whereas Toad comes across as a scheming, manipulative tosser - probably not helped by some of his actions while Ferrari team manager.
