FYP.

I'm hoping that they'll be over-cautious at the start and let Ricciardo or Vettel through...

I have lost a day this week! I think the Monaco "no Friday practice" caught me out with no prediction. Idiot!

Watching the practice sessions just makes me love Monaco. The commitment and precision needed has been finely illustrated by the number of accidents and trips up the escape road. This new Ultra Super Soft tyre was supposed to be an aggressive tyre with a lot of fall-off, but that just isnít happening.

Indeed, the tyre is lasting a good 20 laps and instead tyre warm-up will be an issue for qualifying, and unlike in Spain where a set of soft tyres would be finished after one lap in terms of optimum pace, I think they will be able to do multiple hot laps in Monaco.

After qualifying and with a potentially sick engine, I think we have just seen the end of LH's 2016 championship challenge. It might be a bit early in the season but I can't see Rosberg being caught now.

It appears that there is a good chance of a wet Grand Prix tomorrow. Monaco is unmissable anyway, but itís going to be epic if the forecast proves true.

It looks pretty certain that the GP will be wet. The Eurocup Formula Renault was very wet with many incidents in only 15 minutes of actual running before it was eventually red-flagged. This is a Grand Prix you will not want to miss!

If the rain is supposed to sort out the men from the boys, particularly at Monaco......

it certainly seems to have done so this year

One has to feel incredibly sorry for Ricciardo, his driving was superb all weekend. He would have probably won without the delay for slicks at the pitstop. I say probably because Rosberg massively held holding up Hamilton in the initial laps. Nobody knows how much faster Hamilton could have gone if he had been second from the start, but it was pretty telling how quickly Hamilton dropped Rosberg after the positions were switched.

What an inspired choice it was to stay out on the wet compound, rather than switch the intermediates. It gave Hamilton track position in relation to Ricciardo, and the extent of the gap also gave him a buffer to cars further down the order. With Monaco being a low energy track, the wets on Hamiltonís car looked relatively okay towards the end, and Ricciardoís slow outlap on the intermediateís helped Hamiltonís cause.

It was strange to see Mercedes and Red Bull both prioritise their respective second-placed cars for the pitstop, Rosberg and Verstappen. Perhaps they were using them as a laptime reference, but it went against the protocol of the lead car pitting first. I thought Mercedes should have waited until Red Bull pitted Ricciardo for slicks; Ricciardoís outlap on slicks would have been horrible with a wet pitlane. Thus increasing the gap for Hamilton, allowing him to pit to slicks and retain the lead. Indeed, Hamiltonís outlap on slicks was poor, which is why even with the botched Red Bull pitstop, Ricciardo still managed to draw alongside Hamilton when exiting the pitlane. Thankfully for Mercedes the Red Bull pit blunder happened.
