Had a truly rare "spotted" this evening in the form of a silver D-reg Cavalier cabriolet trundling across the Jamaica Rd from Bermondsey Wall.
Must surely be one the last examples left of a particularly weird car. Which got me thinking - is it a bonafide classic or just a strange old heap? _________________

There was a feature on this and a few other of its contemporary cabrios in, I think, Practical Classics recently. Apparently there are only something like 16 left on the road in the UK.
Still, it always was a heap of shit. _________________ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying. |

| Yes, I'm afraid it is a heap. Rare perhaps, but still a heap. |

I think the point here is that rarity does not confer classic status automatically, even if there will always be those who cherish some bit of old tat. _________________

I'm not surprised it was in practical classics - they always seem to feature the most mundane stuff that is merely old rather than especially interesting. _________________

| Heap. Perfectly demonstrates the difference between "old" and "classic". |

Fitting well with this theme, I saw an Allegro a couple of days ago. In mint condition, but still an Allegro. _________________ "Whatever is rightly done, however humble, is noble." Henry Royce |

I like to read about the mundane; having said that, they did feature a beautiful Tatra 603 recently. One day... _________________ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying. |
