Lancia LC2 Ferrari Tipo Race car



Chassis No 007

1983 saw Lancia and Ferrari produce the LC2 race car fitted with a 2.6 ltr twin turbo charged unit with a max out put of some 950 bhp at full boost. The engines origin being the famous 288 GTO.

The works Lancia Ferraris then joined up with “Martini” by then world famous for their endurance racing. The 1983 season saw them run at Monza, Silverstone, Le Mans, and Spa before finally clutching victory at Imola. This initial win was followed by a brace of 2nd positions at both Mojello and Kylami.

1984 saw the cars compete in the full championship and managed to achieve 3rd at Monza and a 4th at Silverstone, they qualified 1st and 2nd for Le Man and lead for the majority of the 24hr race finally finishing 6th and 7th, this was followed by a 3rd at the Nurburgring and a spectacular one two at Kylami

1985 was full of promise with a pole at Monza were they took a third place and le man were both cas finished followed by a win at Spa. The years total was three thirds one win and five poles.

1986 was the final year for the LC2s Lancia and Martini deciding to go their separate ways.

Chassis No 007 was originally built for the 1983 season and ran as a full Lancia works first team car for three seasons 1983, 84 and 85 upgraded each season it raced until being sold by the Martini team at the end of the 1986 season.

It remained in Europe with a well know collector were it continued to compete, until it was sold to a Japanese client, used only once in Japan it returned to Europe where it ran at Spa Le mans and Monza under the historic Grp c regulations.

The engine was re built in 2003 and dyno tested at 864 HP the transmission was rebuilt in 2004.

£300,000!!!

What a glorious car!  It might even surpass the Porsche 917 as my favourite-looking endurance racer.

Here's a silly fact for you....in 1998 Peugeot made more 504s than they did 605s.
