In case of interest to anyone here. Guy on another forum is a Jag salesman and they have some limited availability deals.

"I've been allocated a selection of XE and XF R-Sport saloons for March registration.

2500 deposit on 24 month PCH.

XE R-Sport 180 Auto from 199pcm

XF R-Sport 180 Auto from 225pcm

Based on 8k PA"

Can pass on his details if of interest to anyone here.

14ppm over 8K so extra 560 p.a. for 12k.

These stupid brand-destroying model designations are annoying me.

I was ready to sign up for an XF-R at 225 a month
Not sure I'd do that for 180BHP though

Slightly off topic, but I see that Jaguar have increased the power of the XE S from 335hp to 375hp.   Interesting that Jaguar follow the American way of official MY improvements, whereas the Germans make subtle improvements over time.

It's the same 380hp now as the XF-S and the F-Type S. But the price has gone up as well to 48k which seems rather steep, although I'm sure some pretty stonking discounts will soon be available.

Also, the new Ingenium petrol engines are now available in the XE and XF. The sweet spot is probably the new 250hp 4 pot petrol - pretty much a straight head to head with the BMW 330i engine and available with AWD too if required.

16K just for the bigger engine seems like an awful lot of money. I know the other manufacturers do it too but when the car below has an already pretty reasonable 250HP, it would need a real petrolhead/fool and his money to make any kind of reasoned argument for spending the extra. Unless of course you need to buy seats, wheels and a radio to bring the cheaper car up to the same rough spec!

I agree it's a lot, but it will cost a fair bit to bring get Prestige (terrible name) up to S spec and even then there will be be things you can't get such as the body kit.

Edit:  Not as much as I thought, about 4K to get the main options (Xenons, Speaker upgrade, bigger wheels, electric seats, keyless entry etc).  The S get adaptive dynamics and presumably quite a few other changes under the skin.

I really quite fancied an XE-S, and Mrs RT definitely did, but the sums simply weren't working compared to the 440i GC sadly. Plus the interior didn't particularly wow me.

There's supposed to be a Ingenium straight-six in a year or so; my money would wait for that.

I can't look at an XE without the word dull coming into my head. It makes the VW Passat look interesting.

I thought I was following an XE the other day. Turns out it was an XF.

I find the dual pipes at the back are too close together - makes it look pinched at the back.
