The seven finalists for the 2010 COTY have been announced. They are:
Citroën C3 Picasso
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Opel / Vauxhall Astra
Peugeot 3008
Skoda Yeti
Toyota iQ
Volkswagen Polo
Having no experience of any of them, other than what I've read, I think I'd have to go for the Astra, probably followed by the E-Class.

The 3008 would have been my choice, if they hadn't put the daft gaping mouth on it (which they've removed for the 5008, hurrah!). Its interior reminds me of the R8's and looks very inviting.
I imagine the IQ will win, despite it not being revolutionary. _________________

Surely the iQ (Iq IQ iq ?) is infinitely more revolutionary than the 3008?!!
Every year (seems this forum has been around a long time now!) I argue that the winner should be the car which has most innovation within it. The shrinking of the air con and other packaging cleverness may not be exciting but should find their way into other cars which will enable them to be smaller and lighter which can only be good. |

A list with all the inspiration of an Eastenders plot-line. I really can't muster any enthusiasm for a single one - quite like the Polo and E-klasse but hardly 'CotY' stuff. Voting will be all over the place as there isn't an Italian option.
Saw one of those 3008's the other day - even in the current world of questionably designed Pug's it's a beacon of munterness - looked like one of those Pontiac Azteks but without the elegant undertones.
As for the winner, make it the C3 Picasso which everyone seems to frig themselves over - even with a soft-spot for any half-decent Citroen I can't see the appeal at all. _________________ Shame your mind don't shine like your possessions |

It has to be the iQ for me.
The rest show no signs of inspiration whatsoever IMVHO _________________ A thing of beauty is a joy forever; Keats. |

The list is boring, political and predictable. I'll take as much interest in it as I have in previous years, none. _________________ woof woof's defence lawyer claimed that "Booze played no part in his typo's."

I'd vote Yeti. Best name, good car, comedy pricing. _________________ Drifting through life |

I'd give it to Mercedes just for having the nerve to sub-contract out the styling on the E-Class to Hyundai and not giving them credit. _________________ Keep Calm & Carry On. |

I like the C3 Picasso (as much as you can judge a car without actually driving one), certainly best looking of its breed (not saying much admittedly) and has a certain Tardis quality, but there's no way I'd nominate it for a CotY award.
Of that worthy but dull bunch I guess I'd have to say iQ for reasons given, or Astra for the way Vauxhall have raised their game - even if I'm not keen on it.
Astra would be a good sympathy vote winner too. _________________ Sleeping is giving in, no matter what the time is... |

The report I read didn't actually specify a date. Since the Insignia was the COTY 2009, though, you are correct (even if the result is to be announced on 30 November 2009). |

I don't have a favourite among the list, but I guess the iQ will win it. _________________ On the other side of the world - Hurlecot de Millou

The jurors have 25 points, which they must split between five cars, with no more than 10 points per car, and no joint winners. In which case ...
Mercedes-Benz E-Class 10
Skoda Yeti 9
Volkswagen Polo 3
Toyota iQ 2
Citroën C3 Picasso 1 |

If I had to own any of them, it would be the Mercedes E class without a shadow of doubt.
After that it would be the Astra. |

What - I agree with you more than I agree with other people, or I agree with you on more occasions than other people do?
Ok ok, you speak a lot of sense.

There's absolutely nothing new in any of the cars in that list that I'm aware of.
Can I add the Alfa 8C Spyder* to the list and vote for it instead?
*I know there's nothing new in it but at least it's good looking and sounds nice |
