Has anyone seen that utterly, utterly ridiculous-looking BMW on the front of this week's issue? What a fucking abomination!

I don't find it quite as abominable as you although I think the Bugs Bunny teeth front grill needs a rethink.

From what I have read elsewhere, I don't think this car is very far away from production.

Claimed for production in 2020 or even 2021, so far away the magazine can claim anything and never be questioned on their claims.

I've currently got a 6 issues for 1 with free Autoglym set trial for Auto Express and a 6 issues for 5 of Autocar. Auto Express is predictably rubbish, but I was surprised how much Autocar has deteriorated even since I gave up on it for being rubbish, there isn't much to choose between the two. Autocar is now printed on nasty newspaper rather than the old glossy sheets, and both magazines cost north of 3.

I like the look of the i5. Much better than most Tesla offerings imho. The BMW I range is really striking and this is a nice extension.

There are so many bad bits. The colour, the grille, the pencil thin headlights that surely can't work, but mostly the fact that it is virtually the same shape as an i8, but has four doors. You'd have to be a headless munchkin to get in the back!

Most commentary suggests that the i5 is much more likely to be an MPV type vehicle.

I've seen both now (since Simon posted) so maybe there will be a few new I models.

Probably a choice of hand controls or set of wooden blocks for the pedals so the owners little legs can operate them.

I'm afraid that inertia means I still have a subscription - which was mainly so that I could get the ipad version when travelling. But as it's all on the web pretty quickly anyway, I really should cancel it.

Use Readly instead. 7.99 a month and there are hundreds of digital mags on there, including Autocar. That's less than buying it in physical form on its own.

I reckon if you took the I Pace concept, and Photoshopped two BMW nostrils over the big Jaguar grille, you'd be close.
