I've always liked the Hockney 8 best. The Manrique 7, Penck Z1 and Calder CSL are also good. The M1 is of course a fabulous car but actually I find Warhol's paintjob a bit uninspired. The rest are fairly average.

I'll have either the Lichtenstein or the Warhol, please.

I'd take the BASF Procar M1 thanks.

Somehow the arty stuff suits the racing cars better than the normal saloons in my eyes.

Wasn't there BMW Teile (sp) racing 635 that was like a cutaway drawing of all the oliy bits underneath?

Manrique's dates from 1990, he was no fan of cars and ended up dying in a car crash in 1992!

I've been to Lanzarote a few years back and developed a real love for his artwork. His old house is amazing.

I was there with my ex (when we were still married) and daughter in, I think, 2001. Manrique is HUGE over there, and had a massive impact on the development of the island; his ideas seem to have been adhered to pretty well over the years, to everyones benefit I believe. Anyway, I knew he'd died in '92, but placed the car as a bit earlier - hence my query.

But, thanks anyway!

I thought it was really great that the people of Lanzarote got behind Manrique's ideas they way they did. Don't see that ever happening in the UK!

We have an A2 sized print of one of his last frieze's/murals on our dining room wall 'Calor de la tierra' from 1992. We'd like to go back sometime and visit all the Manrique exhibits we didn't see last time as we only saw the southern half of the island.

Lichtenstein or Sandro Chia, please...

Any one remember the racing Porsche (917) that was painted like a pork carcase?

Found it...!

I remember that one - "The Pink Pig" as it was affectionately known! All the different cuts were delineated over the bodywork and named - in German of course!

Now, a model of that would be something to see!

They're readily available, including the modern 996 version.

I've seen one in 1:18 - either Autoart or Exoto, can't remember which. Amazing car, though my favourites are the psychedelic Martini "langheck" cars.

[edit] Matt's beaten me to it

Me too - funny how they went for the Boeing nomenclature for their racers.

I had a poster of that Mazda when it won LeMans. Of the other artwork, I like the Fuchs and the Calder

Agreed on the Mazda - perhaps they'll adopt the same colour scheme for their rumoured 'green' entry into F1 (see thread in Racing Posts)
