Managed to take a snap of the odo as it clicked over to 77777. I made an extra effort on this one after missing the fives and sixes and will be unlikely to make the eights before the car goes back. Anyone else ever managed to just catch it at the right moment?

I like those dials.

The only one I have is when I reached 40k.

Am I reading this right, your journey was at 77.7 miles?!

I think it was 'the other ct' who gets the top score in this game of trumps for getting 123,456 with the trip meter showing 789.0 miles

I've mentioned this before, but my dad has a photo which shows 100,000 miles, 100.0 on the trip and 100mph on the speedo. That took some arranging!

I keep missing my milestones, my car went past 90,000 a couple of weeks ago and I missed it by 85 miles

It's not the same as it was when the numbers clicked over, I remember my first car clicking over to 100,000 and it seemed to take an age to change!

The only reason I have that photo is because I was on holiday and spent many, many, hours looking at the dials!

No I reset the trip a couple of days before when it reach 77700. I told you I prepared myself for this one. Luckily it came up to 77777 on the little country lane I was on to go pick up the wife so I could easily slow down and get it exact.

I know what you mean about the old analogue odo's. I remember both my Dad's mk2 Cavalier and my Mum's 'keeping up appearances' blue Rover 213 going over 99999 then back to zero. Vauxhall and Rover mustn't have had much faith in their cars!

Slow down? Speedo says 0! you should have sped up and gone for 77mph!

On that road 77 would have seen me going through a hedge!

Got mine at this milestone, too - must be getting on for a couple of years ago.

Edit - weird, for some reason the picture isn't showing.

Top planning!

I got surprised by the 'ones' soon after picking my car up.

Then managed to spot this one coming up so reset the trip

Impressive. Although I registered mine ticking over to 100,000 miles I certainly wasn't in a position to take a picture.

Mine hit 100,000 on Christmas Eve. It's only 1300 miles further on in that time. Never doing 10k+ in it again like last year.

As others have said, the other ct's achievement takes some beating. And can you imagine how frustrating it would have been for Gooner if the mileage had ticked over to 77778 just before the trip reached 77.7?

And some of us came under fire for polishing exhaust tail pipes. Compared to working out that you need to to reset your trip to get these amazing results - for which I can only doff my cap in utter respect and amazement - merely polishing a tail pipe finisher seems almost simplistic in its importance.

Indeed, that's much harder to work out whilst driving. Well done CT.

Thanks! I can't really remember noticing that it was coming up, or where I was when the trip reset was needed so can only assume I just carried on as normal without being too hawk eyed.

Did do a couple of miles round the new industrial estate on the site of the former Orgreave Coking Plant to get it to click over and so I could pull over. My old phone manages to makes it look like I'd taken it on the Sheffield Parkway or the M1 though.

Nice one. I got the Insignia at 12345 earlier this week, I'll post a pic when I get it off the camera. Was that in the  Golf  or the Legacy? You still have the Spec B don't you?

This was the Legacy, yes. Next one for the Golf will be all the sevens (I think - not driven it this week).

Thanks muchly. Was on the way to Herself's livery stables after her horse had an "incident" with a car! Thankfully, no major harm done, but it's only because I had the display set to the trip that I remembered!! (Usually, it's set to external temp/journey time).

Nothing to photograph, but I realised as I was totting up just now I put the 3000th gallon of petrol in the Legacy on Sunday night when I filled it up.

Averaging 22.32mpg over the 67055 miles to that point - low enough to bring tears to a few forummers eyes I'll wager!!

At a (very) rough average 130ppl, that works out at a tad over £10500 in petrol in 5 1/2 years. How much more would it have been without my second car(s) I wonder?

*shudder*

I think you need to re-do the maths (or maybe not if you don't want to upset yourself   ).

I caught 99999 and 100000 yesterday.

The tyre pressure warning came on at almost exactly 100k and for the first time was a false alarm. Maybe the end is nigh!

Here is mine finally - on the home PC today so finally put the image onto Photobucket. Note the huge revs my car is pulling at 70 - in the Plus I am always looking for a 7th gear on the motorway... Its on about 105k now.

The ZT260 used to pull marginally less rpm at 90 in 5th!

Does it have a gearbox from a diesel?

It's a pretty good range for a petrol six with a relatively small tank and I can see why it achieves a decent mpg on the motorway with that sort of gearing in top.  I could almost live with that, if I could drive it in such a way to achieve those numbers of course.

All the 9's (OK so only 3 of them in just 3 weeks)

Slightly contrived; I went out this morning and realised on the way home I'd be pretty close to 999, so went past my road, down the next one then the  next one, then headed home.  998 wouldn't have been worth posting !
