.... Atholl International Horse Trials, from last weekend.

First thing we saw was the Vaulting display - run at a nice slow pace, as they were doing this, off and on, all day!

We managed to get out to the Cross Country course later, and got a few shots of some of the monster fences these guys (and girls!) jump....

This fence was sponsored by......Subaru!!

It's bloody hard work.....

The dressage had been held the day before, when the weather hadn't been quite so good! What they did to the ground was pretty rough!

Watched the Junior showjumpers for a while ... hard work for them, too, as the ground was really heavy.

'course, it wasn't ALL to do with horses...... well, not equine ones!

On the way 'home', we decided to go the scenic route, and spotted this oddity by the side of the road. An interesting concept, well done!

It would be interesting to know if it actually works!

Great shots Ian - I particularly like the second one as it really shows the effort and power being put into the jump by both horse and rider!

The second one certainly is amazing - hard to imagine how the horse could clear the jump.

I've jumped bigger schooling!

Seriously though, it's not the height of the fences but the technicality of the combinations.  Very impressive.

For the record, I have jumped 130-140 on my horse but I wouldn't want to do a course of them.

It's not the height that's scary, but the length - it's effectively two jumps in one.
