Went for a meeting this afternoon with the head of a management / production company, primarily to catch up and talk business, but also to see his new offices. He looks after some of the biggest names on telly and is deeply, deeply minted.
He's also a petrolhead, particularly for old bikes. In his reception is displayed this 1939 Indian 1000 Sport Scout (I think that's the model), previous owner one S McQueen.
Single spring girder fork front end, hardtail, foot-operated clutch, hand gear shift, cable-operated front brake(!) and weighs God knows how much. This is the Sport model?! I asked if he'd ridden it.
'Oh aye,' he said.
'How was it?'
'Bloody terrifying!'
Edit: Oh, and it has a left-hand throttle! Reputedly so coppers could ride it and fire their guns at the same time. So, thats left-hand throttle and left-hand gearshift. Fuck me. _________________ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying. |
